About WSU veterinary oncology

Washington State's teaching hospital combines chemotherapy, cancer surgery and radiation therapy with clinical research. Its current immunotherapy work uses treatment placed inside a tumor to attract the dog's own cancer-fighting immune cells before surgery.

Local T-cell engager immunotherapy before surgery for canine soft tissue sarcoma

Multicenter local T-cell-engager STS immunotherapy · USA

VRCCO is currently enrolling; confirm WSU intake separately

What is being offered: One local T-cell-engager protocol, AVMA study 534230, previously represented by two active catalog records. Current VRCCO primary evidence describes CD3/CD28 T-cell engagement targeting B7-H3/PD-L1, injected into the tumor, followed by standard surgical removal approximately one week later. There is no placebo. VRCCO eligibility includes cutaneous soft tissue sarcoma over 1.7 cm and body weight at least 5 kg. Previously published WSU criteria required easily accessible STS at least 2 cm; the WSU page could not be read in this audit, so its present intake and site-specific criteria require confirmation. Do not apply VRCCO-specific thresholds to the unverified WSU cohort.

Who may qualify: Confirmed cancer diagnosis required; Measurable; Planned surgery; Min weight kg: 5

Costs / coverage: VRCCO provides a $1,500 surgery credit and covers study-related ICU stays, bloodwork and medications. The previously published WSU offer was a $1,000 medical credit plus study-related ICU, medications and bloodwork; that WSU offer was not independently reverified today. Owners pay uncovered standard surgical/diagnostic care.

Contact: VRCCO / Dr. Kristen Couto — official clinical-trial page. WSU: Jennifer Heusser — jpmarcus3@wsu.edu; 509-592-3668; current WSU intake needs reconfirmation.

Experimental EGFR/HER2 tumor vaccine

Therajan / participating veterinary oncology centers · USA

Currently enrolling at nine confirmed sites; Chicago, Richmond and Missouri are not enrolling

What is being offered: USDA-regulated EGFR/HER2 peptide-vaccine study led by Therajan. The current Canine Cancer Alliance status page identifies nine locations without a non-enrolling warning: Ventura, Edmonds, Pullman, Salt Lake City, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Phoenix and Stamford. Its same roster marks Chicago, Richmond and Columbia, Missouri as currently not enrolling. Stamford was separately confirmed on Veterinary Cancer Concierge Services' current trial page, which provides its intake pathway, eligibility materials and appointment location. Site-specific eligibility, scheduling and costs vary; MedVet restrictions apply only to its hospitals. Bridge also considers pulmonary carcinoma and high-grade mast cell tumor after records review, but those site-only indications are not mapped to the shared protocol record.

Who may qualify: Anticipated survival over 3 months; Standard of care therapy; Histology or long bone osa exception

May not qualify if: Other immunotherapy; Alternative therapy; Other clinical study

Costs / coverage: The investigational vaccine is provided at no charge; site visits, conventional treatment, administration and monitoring may be owner-paid. VCCS publishes a $695 charge for each vaccine appointment plus required testing. Confirm exact site-specific costs before enrollment.

Before you contact the center

A listing here does not mean every pet will qualify. Enrollment can change, and the study team makes the final decision after reviewing your pet’s diagnosis, records and previous treatment.

Have the pathology report, recent imaging and treatment history ready. Ask whether a referral is required, which visits must happen in person and what the study pays for before making travel plans.
